Release Notes May 2025: New features, attributes, validations and system fixes to Erudus

At Erudus we’re always looking to improve - to make life easier for our customers and progress further in our mission to make accurate food data more easily and quickly accessible to everyone who needs to see it. So we frequently introduce new features to the platform, and perform upgrades and fixes that keep things running smoothly and come as a direct response to any issues that our users are having. With that in mind, here’s what our team have been working on lately…

New Features

All Users

Product status visibility on PDF specifications

When downloading specifications as PDFs, the product status will now show on the specification to declare whether the product is published or archived at the time of generating the PDF.

Removed Attributes

The following attributes have been removed from the Erudus schema:

  • Cholesterol per prepared product
  • Trans fats per prepared product
  • Fat % in dry matter per prepared product

Manufacturer Users

(1701, 1702) Nutritional Information

(1701, 1702) Nutritional Information has now been split across two tabs on both the Editor and finished specifications:

  • Nutrition as Sold
  • Nutrition as Prepared

New attributes have been added across these tabs for “per serving” and “per prepared” 100 values, which can now be entered by the user. This replaces the automatic calculations that have been in place up until now.

To aid Manufacturers in populating this information, new buttons have been added - one on each tab, and will use existing data for “per 100” and “per prepared 100” to calculate “per serving” (based on serving size), and “per prepared serving” (based on prepared product serving size), respectively.

Wholesaler Users

New filter for Wholesaler Product Catalogues

An additional filter has been added to the Wholesaler product catalogue via the Wholesaler Dashboard. Wholesalers can now filter for product updates in which the update to a product was placing it in an archived state.

Fixes

All Users

(1550)

Users had found that there were 2 separate attributes in Query Builder exports detailing the schema of a product. This has been amended and there is now only one attribute related to the schema for a product on Query Builder exports.

(1186)

Following the recent updates to nutritional attributes, display names for nutritional attributes in Query Builder for a prepared product have been changed from “Nutrient (finished)” to “Nutrient (finished)”. This is for consistency between what is displayed on the specification and Query Builder.

Safety and warning attributes not showing

We identified an issue with safety and warning attributes not showing on published specifications when the attributes had been completed. This has been fixed and those attributes will now show on published specifications when completed.

Manufacturer Users

(1747)

Some Manufacturers were receiving a validation error when setting the “No Inner Component Present” attribute to “Yes” on the Drinks Specification Type. This has now been resolved and all users can employ this attribute without error.

Grading attribute for Fruit and Vegetables

The “Grading” attribute on Fruit and Vegetable specifications has been moved from the General section of the Product Editor to the Characteristics section of the Product Editor.

Numbering on Waste Packaging components

When adding Waste Packaging components, components were labelled with numbers starting with 0 - this numbering has been removed from Waste Packaging components.

Removal of dropdown arrow for parents allergen categories

The dropdown arrow for the parent allergen categories “Cereals Containing Gluten” and “Tree Nuts” has been removed in the Product Editor, as they can’t be interacted with and are dictated by their sub derivatives declarations.

Looking for a Manufacturer search tool

When using Quick Search, Manufacturer users were being given filter suggestions for other Manufacturers via the “Looking for a Manufacturer” search tool. This would not yield any results, and this feature has been disabled for Manufacturer users to avoid further confusion.

Supplementary Nutritional Information

Supplementary Nutritional Information attributes in the Product Editor have now been moved to below the nutrient table for “Nutrition as Sold”.

Missing “Exempt from Shelf Life Labelling”

The attribute “Exempt from Shelf Life Labelling” was missing from the Non Food specification and has now been replaced.

Wholesaler Users

Large customer purchase histories issue

An issue preventing Wholesaler users from uploading large customer Purchase Histories has been resolved and Purchase Histories can be uploaded without problem.

New Attributes

Moulded Fibre

"Moulded Fibre" has been added as an extended material for the Paper/Cardboard base material in the Waste Packaging model.

Validations

(1711)

Following the addition of the new “Per Serving” nutritional attributes, a validation has been implemented to ensure that the value for “Per Serving” nutritional attributes can’t be rounded higher or lower than the nearest round number, after the “Per Serving” amount has been calculated.
