What the Nielsen Brandbank partnership means for Erudus users?
On the 10th October 2017, we announced a partnership with Nielsen Brandbank. Wholesale and caterers will be able to use an unprecedented data pool of product information whilst it will also provide more efficiency for food manufacturers and brands who use both services.
What does it mean for Wholesalers?
More brands, more products
The Erudus data pool currently holds c.33,000 products which are predominantly foodservice lines, with the addition of the Nielsen Brandbank data we expect this number to increase to over 100,000 product lines with greater coverage from major brands with retail and wholesale lines.
Wholesale users can expect to see hundred’s more brands and their product ranges appear in Erudus including Allied Bakeries, Mars, Danone, Cadburys, Britvic, Coke, Walkers Snacks, Yeo Valley and Muller Dairy.
As a result, the gap between retail and foodservice products will become smaller. The Erudus data pool will go along way in bridging the gap and provide the most extensive data pool for food products in the UK making it an ideal source of master data for wholesale, foodservice and cash and carry type businesses.
Our wholesale users will not only benefit from the increased number of product lines they will also be able to access a new solution for hi-resolution (print quality) product imagery. This solution will available mid-2018.
Your customer benefits too
And for wholesale users who subscribe to the Erudus Catering Tools (Allergen & Nutritional Data Search, Recipe Builder & Menu Planner) the extra product lines from Nielsen Brandbank will be available to your customers.
What does it mean for Manufacturers?
Manufacturers already using Nielsen Brandbank to provide images, allergen, nutritional and dietary content to the major multiples will be able to publish these attributes to Erudus without the need to re-key any of the information. Furthermore, if a product changes in the future and is resubmitted through the Nielsen Brandbank service, the changes will be automatically updated in Erudus. Again without the need to re-key any of the information.
New Features, less re-keying
The new features will enhance the following areas of Erudus for food manufacturers who also use Nielsen Brandbank services: –
- Adding new specifications not already published to Erudus
- Applying product updates
- De-listing products
- Product imagery

Our technical team has commenced work and we expect to deliver the additional products into the data pool by the turn of the year. The new features for manufacturers will follow immediately after, with the Image solution for wholesale coming mid-2018.

Both Erudus and Nielsen Brandbank want to gain a deeper understanding of everyone’s data requirements to ensure they’re captured in future data models i.e. the product attributes you’re asked to complete by customers.
You can contribute to this by sharing your new line form (wholesale) or in-house product specification (brand/manufacturer) to ensure it’s captured by our newly created steering group, that will look at data requirements across the industry in greater detail.
