What is the new attribute?

The new attribute is “Moulded Fibre", which has been added as an extended material for the Paper/Cardboard base material in the Waste Packaging model.

What is Moulded fibre?

Moulded fibre is a packaging material that also goes by the name “moulded cellulose”. It is made from recycled paper, card and like materials, and provides a more eco-friendly, sustainable option for businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint and improve ESR.

Often used for egg packaging, moulded fibre is known for absorbing shock, and the vibrations of transportation - making it a great choice for relatively fragile foods.

Why have we introduced Moulded Fibre as an attribute?

Erudus have added moulded fibre as an attribute predominantly because of its popularity as a packaging material for eggs - formerly we didn’t have an option for it for a Manufacturer that wanted to declare the correct packaging material for their egg cartons. This allows the specification to be even more accurate.

With moulded fibre’s growing popularity as an alternative to plastic, and the commitment we share with many of our customers to be more environmentally friendly it seemed like a great addition to the Waste Packaging Model.
