Once you have added your core product line why not add more product specs? This gives greater visability of your product range to customers and potential customers.
The Erudus Image Hub can be accessed from your home screen and this is the one stop solution for adding images to your products to share with your customers using Erudus. You can access this by clicking on the ‘Image Hub’ tab on your user dashboard. From here the manage images section allows you to edit any existing images and upload new ones. Each image needs to be tagged with the product it is linked with and what image type it is. For each product we have labelled 10 different image types to upload.
Once uploaded and published these images can be downloaded by your customers as they access the product in question, either as a small, medium or full size image depending on their requirements. These images will also populate commerce apps and other solutions which the Erudus data is fed into.
A feature which is popular among both manufacturers and wholesalers is the visibility of any certifications or accreditations which a product or manufacturer may have.
These can be linked to each product specification allowing the customer to view and download these certificates as needed for their own reference adding an extra level of depth to the product specification.
Uploading and managing your accreditations couldn’t be easier, as this is all done using the accreditations tab on your supplier dashboard. From this screen you can add, remove and edit any accreditations on your manufacturer account, and the only information we require, is the name, location, expiry date and a file containing the certificate its-self.
This is a quick and easy way to give access to your accreditations to your customers and reducing the admin task in communicating this out to any requests from customers.
Monthly Data Confirmations & Data Errors
Each month Erudus will ask you to confirm that the data uploaded is all correct and up to date. This will involve one of the users of your account logging in and clicking the red confirm button on your user dashboard (shown below).
This is to ensure that any changes made to your products are being updated on Erudus too, and so your customers know that any accessed specifications are always going to be containing accurate and current data.
While an outstanding data confirmation is active on your account you will not be able to add, edit or remove any products until this has been acknowledged.
In addition to this you will receive an email notification if a wholesaler, caterer, or one of the staff at Erudus logs a Product Data Error against one of your products. This will display in Erudus as an alert similar to the above and this requires urgent attention as this is the way in which your customer makes you aware a piece of data on one of your products is incorrect.
These alerts will be shown as follows:
Once this data has been corrected or looked at clicking the ‘mark as read’ button will dismiss this alert and let us know that you are aware. If you wish to send a response to the alert you can email firstname.lastname@example.org with the product name and error code in the subject line and your response and we will communicate this to the original user who submitted this request.
Sharing Specifications With Customers
Aside from allowing your customers to access your product specs using Erudus we have also added functionality for you to use Erudus as a spec management system. When you add a spec and your customer is subscribed already to Erudus they can search and view this as soon as it is published, however what happens if your customer isn’t using Erudus?
There are two options for sharing product specs with non-Erudus users:
- Downloading the PDF – once a spec is uploaded onto Erudus you have the ability to download this either in a full format or a basic format. You can share either of these internally or with your customer base as much as you wish. We want the product data to be able to be communicated with the industry.
Send to… – In addition to the above you can also send a version of the spec via email using the ‘send to…’ option. This will send the user a link to the webpage containing the product spec on Erudus, this is only a temporary link and will expire in 7 days so this is an ideal option if you are sharing this with a potential new customer.
Every Erudus supplier or manufacturer has the option of their data being uploaded directly into Erudus using API. API (Application Programming Interface) is a communication method in software development between different components. So this means API can be set to feed all of your product data from your internal system directly into Erudus.
This does require some development work from the individual or company who manages your current software system however our support team can provide you with all of the necessary information to be able to do this.
This functionality is included in all supplier/manufacturer subscriptions as we want to make it as easy as possible to be able to keep your Erudus product data current.
Upload More Specifications
When you joined Erudus it may have been at the request of one specific customer or wholesaler so the specifications you uploaded may have been to satisfy the request of that customer. However your Erudus subscription allows you to upload unlimited products onto your account and into the Erudus data pool.
With the addition of the Image Hub and now being able to attach multiple high res images to each product and having the visibility to over 100 wholesalers and 85,000 caterers with this information makes it worthwhile to upload as many products as you have so not only your customers can see your products but potential customers can too.
Finally there will come a time you will need to remove old specifications, this may be due to not supplying this product anymore or it could be that this product is being archived for the time due to it being a seasonal product. This can be done from your published products screen and you can even remove multiple products at once.
