Release Notes April: New features, attributes, validations and system fixes to Erudus
At Erudus we’re always looking to improve - to make life easier for our customers and progress further in our mission to make accurate food data more easily and quickly accessible to everyone who needs to see it. So we’re frequently introducing new features to the platform, and performing upgrades and fixes that keep things running smoothly and come as a direct response to any issues that our users are having. With that in mind, here’s what our team have been working on lately…
New Features
Manufacturer Users
Mark Alerts as Unread
Manufacturer users can now mark alerts received via the Manufacturer Dashboard as unread after reading them
Wholesaler Users
New Filters for Product Catalogues
All filters for a Wholesaler’s product catalogue can be managed using a new filter modal instead of multiple dropdown for different filters on the product catalogue page. The Knowledge Base article Managing Product Updates has been updated to reflect this
Fixes
All Users
500 Errors Using Query Builder
Some users were receiving 500 errors when using the Query Builder for certain queries. This issue has been identified and resolved. Users will no longer receive 500 errors when using the Query Builder
Unable to Download PDFs There was an issue preventing PDF downloads of large data sets. This has been resolved and PDFs will download without issue
Drinks Specifications Not Validating Weight/Volume Attributes Correctly Drinks and Alcoholic Drink specification types weren’t validating the inner component weight/volume attributes to be mandatory. This has been fixed and now Drinks and Alcoholic Drink specification types require a value entered for either the inner component weight or volume
New Attributes
Additional Origin Attributes
New origin attributes have been added to the Erudus data model allowing manufacturers to add more details about the origin of the product and it’s primary ingredient(s). The new attribute set for food and drink specifications are as follows:
- Product Country of Origin (Mandatory)
- Product Place of Provenance
- Additional Origin Details
- Origin of Primary Ingredient (Mandatory)
- Primary Ingredient Additional Details

Modified Atmosphere Packaging
A new attribute has been added to declare whether a product has been packaged in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP)
Deposit Return Scheme
An attribute has been added to the Drinks and Alcoholic Drinks specification types to declare the product is part of the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS)
Production Method
An attribute has been added to the Fish & Seafood schema to allow manufacturers to document the production method of their product. The options for the attribute are:
- Caught at Sea
- Caught in Fresh Water
- Farmed
Roundtable on Responsible Soy
A new accreditation attribute has been added to declare a product is accredited by the Roundtable on Responsible Soy (RTRS)
Lactobacillus
“Lactobacillus” has been added as a microbiological standards test for manufacturers to document on their specification, if appropriate, in the “Product Characteristics” section of the product editor
New Packaging Type “Clipstrip” has been added as a waste packaging type in the product editor
Validations
Allergen Statement on Pack and Additional Allergen Information attributes
Both the “Allergen Statement on Pack” and “Additional Allergen Information” attributes validate the presence of “May Contain” and “Contains” statements. If a “May Contain” or “Contains” statement is used in either of these attributes then the allergen(s) in those statements must have the same declaration
