It’s been a busy and productive couple of months for Erudus - we’ve been shortlisted for awards and sponsored others, improved our industry knowledge and technical skills at seminars and conferences and enjoyed ourselves mixing with the food sector’s best and brightest….
Food and Drink North East’s HITS Expo 2024
What
A 2-day event highlighting the role the various sectors of the food industry play in forging the North East region’s identity and providing opportunities for attendees to make valuable, new connections and network with other like-minded businesses, organised by our friends and collaborators Food And Drink North East (FADNE). We were especially thrilled to sponsor the inter-college competition, and we can say with confidence that when it comes to chefs, the future is bright for the Northeast.

The event was packed with those from the North East who have an interest or stake in the food industry, including destination marketing organisations (DMOs), tourist destinations and attractions, cultural organisations, local authorities, chefs, restaurateurs and hoteliers, food producers and suppliers, buyers, Wholesalers and foodservice distributors, academics, colleges and consultants, influencers, students and foodies.

Campden BRI Regulatory Horizons seminar
What
A forward-thinking seminar for the food and drink industry, hosted by Campden BRI, a leader in global food and drink science and research.
The event focused on navigating challenges around food and drink legislation in 4 key areas – sustainability, health, safety and innovation, with a view to understanding the implications for businesses and products, and how to keep up to date with changes in the regulatory landscape. Attendees enjoyed discussion on subjects such as nutrition labelling, environmental labelling and claims to ingredient innovation, HFSS, food allergen labelling, contaminants, and risk assessments.

This event was open to members and non-members of Campden BRI, and Erudus mixed with Regulatory, Technical and Food Safety Managers from across the industry (among others). Speakers were from Campden BRI, University of Leeds, FDF, WSTA and Accolade Wines.

Laravel Live
What
The official Laravel conference for the UK, Laravel Live is well-known in tech circles for inspirational talks, engaging networking and amazing learning opportunities.
Naturally, talks focused specifically on Laravel and the Laravel ecosystem, and didn’t disappoint, diving deep into Laravel and related technologies.

Who
Over 300 Laravel and PHP enthusiasts were in attendance, with guest speakers from Tighten, Laravel News, Beyond Code, Medicare, Trybe, Fullstack, Mumsnet and Larabelles among others.

Red Bull Soapbox Race
What
A wackily-wheeled event where the most fearless and creative amateur drivers were challenged to create their own homemade Soapbox cart to race on a main stage, and judged on creativity, speed and showmanship as they navigated the downhill course. And there was also entertainment off the race track too, with the world of Red Bull brought to life through athlete shows, music and food vendors.

In addition to the most fearless and creative amateur drivers making up 59 teams, Erudus were among thousands of spectators, and rubbed shoulders with the Red Bull UK team, retail and e-com team and buyers for Bestway Retail and loads of trade press writers.

North East Chamber of Commerce Business Awards
What
Dedicated to celebrating the achievements of the business community in the North East, this black tie event handed out awards in the categories of Larger Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Rising Star, Business of the Year, and Small Business of the Year - which Eurdus was delighted to be shortlisted for.
And not only did we win Small Business of the Year, but we also took home the big prize - Business of the Year, to boot! It was an amazing achievment for the Erudus team and we couldn't be prouder.

This year's Chamber business awards will be held on the concourse at the Glasshouse ICM, Gateshead.

Who
Awards nominees and members of the North East Chamber of Commerce representing all areas of business and industry in the North East. Shortlisted nominees represented many different sectors - from HR, to telecoms to education and public service.
