Release Notes October: New features, attributes, validations and system fixes to Erudus

At Erudus we’re always looking to improve - to make life easier for our customers and progress further in our mission to make accurate food data more easily and quickly accessible to everyone who needs to see it. So we frequently introduce new features to the platform, and perform upgrades and fixes that keep things running smoothly and come as a direct response to any issues that our users are having. With that in mind, here’s what our team have been working on lately…

New Features

All Users

Enhanced product data error alerts

Any user who has submitted a product error to the Manufacturer can now respond to any response made by the Manufacturer, in an enhancement to the Product Data Alert feature.

You can find an Erudus Knowledge Base article on “Reporting an error on a Product Specification” here and “Responding to Product Error Alerts” here.

API Users

Plaintext ingredients field

The API v1 feed now includes a “plaintext_ingredients” field. This new addition converts all emphasis now permitted in Erudus 2 to full caps - so emphasis is now present in the ingredients without needing to accommodate HTML tags.

Wholesaler users

Manufacturer Users Lists

Wholesalers can now create a list of their Manufacturers that use Erudus, to review:

  • The number of their (Manufacturer) products they have their codes linked to
  • The accreditations the Manufacturer has uploaded to their account
  • ESG survey responses submitted by the Manufacturer

A Knowledge Base article has been published on the subject of Manufacturer Management Tools for Wholesalers. You can read it here. If a Wholesaler has submitted a range list to Erudus, any matched Manufacturers in a Wholesalers range will auto populate the list of Manufacturer.

Fixes

All Users

Net drained weight

On finished specifications, the Net Drained Weight attribute now displays 2 decimal places instead of 3 - in line with all other decimalised values.

Address attribute on specifications

It had been reported that when generating a CSV of products, users found the “Address” attribute for the product was blank. This has been resolved, and the address associated with the product specification will now show in that space.

Manufacturer Users

Accreditation alerts

Manufacturer users will no longer receive regular alerts advising them that accreditations haven’t been replaced when one of them expires. They will now receive an alert 30 days before an accreditation is due to expire and another on the day the accreditation expires.

Timeout errors on specifications with a large number of versions

Product specifications with a large number of versions were causing timeout errors when trying to load on the Manufacturer Dashboard. Enhancements to the system have now been made to accommodate specifications with a larger number of versions.

Wholesaler Users

Basic users types

When using Quick Search, the “Basic” user type will not be presented with Manufacturer suggestions based on the search criteria.

Additionally, when viewing product specifications, those users under a “Basic” type are no longer able to report an error on a product.

“Basic” users assigned to a Wholesaler account were getting a 500 error when reviewing a product’s version history. This has been fixed.

New Attributes

Straw

A new waste packaging type, “Straw”, has been added to the waste packaging types on product specifications.
