New Enhancement: Sidebar guidance

Well, the date is fast approaching and in the run-up we’re sharing some exciting previews of what to expect. So, allow us to present a forthcoming enhancement to the Product Editor - “sidebar guidance”...

What is sidebar guidance?

From the 8th January, when using the Product Editor Manufacturers will receive completion guidance for attributes, in a handy pop-out sidebar format. It’s that simple (but effective).

How exactly does sidebar guidance work within the Product Editor?

Attributes in the Product Editor will have little tooltip buttons - the question mark in a blue circle as seen below.

When the tooltip button is clicked, guidance will pop out as a sidebar (as seen below) - presenting the user with the completion advice for that attribute.

Why are we introducing sidebar guidance?

To make our specifications as accurate as possible and life easier for our users. Basically, the sidebar guidance will reduce ambiguity of what is expected when completing a specification, while simultaneously bolstering data quality and accuracy on a specification (by increasing understanding of what is required of the user).

This guidance also ensures that the data will be consistent throughout the Data Pool, because everyone using the platform will be able to review the expectations around the data being provided through this guidance.

Will users have to do anything differently?

No - this is simply an addition to the Product Editor. From the 8th Jan the refreshed Product Editor will have the tooltips on the attributes available, all you have to is click and you’ll be presented with the guidance for that attribute.
