Introduction

Erudus is looking to recruit a Specifications Technologist to join our expanding Technical Department. The successful candidate will take on an essential role in the company’s Technical Services function that will allow the chosen applicant to develop their product and food industry technical knowledge.

This is a position that will focus on Technical specification data, working with a wide variety of manufacturers to add food and non-food data into the Erudus system on their behalf. Responsibilities will include providing technical support, identifying gaps in specification data and working with users to enter their data into the Erudus platform.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented individual, who is passionate about helping others and has the potential to grow within the role. You will also have an interest in the food industry and good knowledge of what is happening within it, as well as the ability and drive to keep up with a fast-growing and ambitious company.

Our Technical department acts as a resource for many users and covers all aspects of technical data within the food industry - whether helping our users to make the most of the Erudus platform and our tools and solutions, informing them of changes in legislation, to identifying food trends, researching the growing needs of the allergy community, and working with many technical departments within the industry.

Role Overview

Technical duties and responsibilities

  • Working with manufacturers to upload, maintain, and update their product specifications
  • Maintain accurate, organised records of manufacturer specifications, certificates, and other technical data.
  • Keep up to date with changes to legislation and highlight any required specification updates with manufacturers accordingly.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external users
  • Encouraging product specification data integrity throughout the Erudus database
  • Providing feedback for system improvements and participation in product testing

Requirements

Education Undergraduate degree or equivalent education, food-related subjects desirable.

Experience Demonstrable success in previous food environment roles is strongly advantageous, however, if you are looking to take your first step into working within a technical team, training can be provided.

Knowledge, skills and abilities The successful candidate will have confidence in their own abilities and be a team player.

  • An understanding of food labelling and food legislative requirements
  • Knowledge and proven experience of working with specification systems (preferred but not essential)
  • Passion for the food industry
  • Effective record-keeping and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with internal/external stakeholders
